Reasoning of the program:
Orphans and children deprived of parental care, brought up outside the family environment, must get involved into social relations, thisrequires them to develop social and personal skills – namely responsibility, the ability to make choices and to cooperate with others.
Therefore these institutions want an evaluative environment which will help to expand and deepen their socialization within three core areas: activity, communication and self-knowledge. One of the trends of the evaluative environment is mentoring.
Mentoring is going to help children better understanding themselves and people around them, help them to gain confidence and ability to build healthy interpersonal relationships and to get acquainted with the principles of independent and self-supporting life. It is a tool that’s going to gather together and unite each child with a group of caring, helpful, and encouraging people.
Goal of the program: preparation for an independent life (adjusted for their age and functional limitations) of orphans and children deprived of parental care.
Assignment of the program:
- The formation of different abilities and independent life skills of orphans and children deprived of parental care;
- Search and coaching of mentors for each child.
The “Orientation” The purpose of creating this program of orientation activities within the framework of mentoring program is to help orphans and children deprived of parental care to identify their potential, to increase knowledge about different occupations, and to help them determine their future profession and to enter the school.
The “Tutoring” The purpose of tutoring in the framework of mentoring program is to bring up happy, friendly, smart, proactive and healthy students. Moreover our goal is to assist the child in acquiring new knowledge and apply it in his life, to help him to do the homework, to expand his horizons and to encourage him to make the efforts of studying.
The “Socialization” The purpose of socialization in the framework of the mentoring program is to help orphans and children deprived of parental care to learn social values, learn social norms, and to develop their personality. Through the process of acculturation, education and training the child will be able to more fully participate in social life.
