Types Of Sports
Sports are organized physical activities and competitions. All sports are competitive. However, this is not the main difference between recreational, leisure or gymnastics. The main distinction between these sports is the participation prize or reward for winning it.
There are several types of sports. It is a matter of choice whether you want to play a game as a participant, a spectator or simply observe it from a distance. However, you have to possess certain physical dexterity, speed, agility, endurance, stamina and intellectual ability to succeed in any game of any kind. A common denominator in almost all sports is the use of physical strength or power. As it is obvious, all sportsman strive to excel in their sport so as to win the game and/or participate in the competition.
There are numerous sports that are played actively by athletes in different parts of the world. All sports are characterized by unique sets of rules, structure, goals, equipment, discipline and competition among other things. Most sports governed by different governing bodies and associations have come up with a different set of official rules that serve as the basic foundation, or base, of the game. There are some sports that are generally practiced by individual sportsmen while there are some that are generally practiced by teams or at a professional level.
All games, even those that are played on an international level, are organized so that the participants get their fair share of the pie of the game. For instance, soccer (football) is organized so that the best players can compete and there are enough sportsmen who are willing to participate so as to bring forth the best in their respective performances. However, the participants in such sports need to possess physical dexterity, speed, agility, endurance and intellectual capacity. These are the basic requisites that one needs if he wants to participate in sports.
It has been seen that sportsmen engage in various types of strenuous exercises that help them develop their strength, agility, flexibility, endurance and physical power. All these are essential for a sport to be conducted successfully. The intensity and the competition of such sports encourage the participation of participants from all walks of life, young and old, male and female etc. In order to participate actively in a particular sport, one must have the ability to adapt to changes, change of pace, physical training and nutritional intake besides other important factors.
Sports are generally conducted through organised competitions that take place during different periods of time. For instance, in sprinting, track events, high jumpers, pole vaulting etc, there is a definite sequence of physical activities that take place. For sprinting and pole vaulting, these games require a lot of strength, speed, agility, flexibility, balance and great physical stamina.
